Help Identifying a MTB, possibly a Kuwahara

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a second hand bike from an online classifieds ad. It was listed as a Kuwahara Scamp mtb but as far as I know, the Scamp was a BMX bike. Knowing this, I went ahead and purchased the bike anyway as I love how the frame looks. I would love to identify this bike if at all possible; I do hope that it really is a Kuwahara. Also, there are no serial numbers on the frame.

Some component specs:
Suntour XC Derailleurs
Suntour Power thumb shifters
Suntour XC power roller cam brakes
Suntour XC brake levers
Suntour cassette
Shimano crankset
Araya 26" Rims
Sakae seat clamp
Sakae seat post
Vetta saddle

The handle bars have no writing that I can see but there is a 4-pt star engraved on the front.
No writing on the stem that I can see.
The headset just says "Japan" on the locking nut seal.
The pedals say "VP 456 Taiwan"

Any help identifying this bike is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Kuwahara frame numbers are usually on the non-drive side of the seat tube (just above the BB).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, I just searched every inch of the seat tube and the underside of the frame but to no avail. I find it odd that the bike wouldn't have a serial though. The paint scheme looks to be original but I'm no expert so I'm going to have my friend take a look at it.
