Help! Gear Cables and Info Required.

Hi Guys,
Need help with where to get correct gear cables, inners and outers, for a 91 Kona Explosif running standard Shimano Deore DX mechs, front and rear with the std rapidfire shifters. 7 Speed.
Also what shifters should I look for to do away with the shifter/brake combined job as i want to fit V Brakes and need a seperate shifter. Would prefer XT.
I haven't a clue with this stuff and would appreciate some assistance.

gear cables havent changed - just bolt on some brand new ones from chain reaction cycles.

if you're looking to retain seven speed shifting, STX rapidfire units often pop up on ebay, brand new and unused. last of the half-decent 7 speed stuff.

Cool, thanks. Is there a specific spec of cable I need to order or just a Shimano cable set?

the XT and XTR ones shift a bit slicker, but well-lubed deore ones will be fine
