It is not the case that Flash automatically uses the same codecs as everything else, these are configurable case to case.

You say I am wrong then? How do you configure flash to use say a different MP4 codec to WMP, can you tell me where they are stored on the harddrive as well? (This could be useful information as I am doing a lot of work with Citrix HDX Flash offload and different platforms and hardware).

I haven't used XP in years so can't really remember much about what codecs it shipped with. Whenever I do a fresh install of Win 7 it will play most file extensions right off the bat. .MKV and getting subs to work is a different story. Flash usually works without installing any second party codecs. VLC generally sorts out most problems. CCCP Codec pack sorts everything out for me personally.

Generally most software players use the pre-installed Codecs on the system so when you install Klite or CCCP WMP will use the codecs installed with it as will some others, except VLC (possibly other that I haven't used) which has it's own Codecs built in and stored in different locations to the normal windows codec store.
What was implied was that Flash also had this or could also be configured to behave in this way.
The link doesn't say anything about configuring Flash it was only about how to install and uninstall it and do a blanket fix of audio problems.

Edited: I shouldn't try and type so fast when I am about to go out.

Did you get chance to try out the link to the Dell forum what they talk about disabling the A band on the wireless card for your laptop?
