I'm no expert but it looks like 1998 although my catalogue from that year has that model as a soft tail type frame and specced with a whole load of different kit

Price wise was about £1K

Very nice though :)

Thanks John. Much appreciated! I imagine many of these parts are not stock.

Did all the Toads come out of "The Beach" bike shop?

Yes, as far as I know, all the local ones did. I'm sure he must of sold through other shops outside of Vancouver tho

I went to highschool with a guy called Darren_____. He rode for team Toad BITD. See him a couple of times a year......so he can kick my ass in Kelowna/Vernon area.

love to see that toad & brodie as well. huge fan of the early fillet brazed local steel & have been looking for an elusive fillet toad forever. i raced in vancouver back in the day; was a pretty cool scene. granted, i never stopped riding, it just seemed like a special time - with the plethora of custom builders, component manufacturers & the birth of the phenomenon known as 'the shore'.

Hey! Me too! But he didn't ride for anyone :)

That's a nice area of the world, Kelowna. Can ride for miles. I live in the East Kootenays right now. It's similar terrain; grassland on clay with Pine everywhere. I can't ride much anymore. Too many crashes and surgeries....

I am too, love fillet braze. I've never been into suspension and all that was around here in the used market is really cheap worn out modern stuff.

It was a special time. Remember "Severed Dick" and "Cut Your Bars"? I broke a toe on "Cut Your Bars". Our favorite race was going to Brodie's "Test of Metal" on the sunshine coast.

Great talking with you guys, digging into memory banks that haven't been used for years! I'll go revive the Toad et all this week and post more pix.

severed & area is still intact. the hell of the north ran down there one year; great course. the brodie t.o.m. was indeed a sweet race as well, as was the original roach race in coquitlam. the mosquito 500 & vanier park were fun little events, too. and how about hornby bike fest - classic! ahh, the memories...
