Found this site whilst trying to find a fix the rattling "V" brakes on my 1997 Kona Kula.
Had it since new and is100% original apart from the saddle and the grips.

Also have Marin Bear Valley SE from 2-3 years before also from new. A few mods on the Marin but I still have all of the original bits.

The early V brakes were renowned for the rattle, shimano even produced a shim kit to help reduce it, it worked on XT and XTR Vs - what type you got on yours? The kit was a nightmare to fit and may now be hard to find but you might be able to replicate it, they were micro-fine steel washers that sat between the linkage and the arm.

My brakes are XT. I have used some very thin disc brake washers which cost a couple of quid and have solved the problem after following a thread on here on how to do it.
