Just like to say hi - have just joined the forum after getting hacked off with other forums where the advice is buy a new bike rather than fix what you have.
Have recently stripped the bike down and am putting it together piece by piece. As I do I am coming across a few things that I need advice on. I'll post questions later...

Was it the Marin wolf Ridge? Was it the Hope option model? Or was that later?

Greetings and welcome. Nowt wrong with a new bike, but something very satisfying about rebuilding an old one so it rides better than new.

Very true - there is nothing better than a new bike but with two small children it's not going to happen for a while...

And yes it is a Marin Wolf Ridge with the Hope C2 brakes and sport levers which I am presently taking apart, cleaning, replacing all the seals etc and putting back together. Bike at moment is a frame on the bike stand, oh with new forks as the Manitou X-verts finally gave up on me...

Anyone know, incidentally, if you can still get replacement LX hollowtech mega 9 chain rings? I have seen hollowtech two but not sure if these are backwardsds compatible. Think mine are FC-M571. May need to check that.

You can definitely get replacement rings, but I would advise Middleburn, RaceFace, TA or Stronglight rings as they last about 4x longer than Shimano and seem to be made of something other than metallized cheese.

Thing is the large chain ring is machined to fit the cranny arm. Will post pics,later if I am able to.

What details/measurements do I need to consider if replacing with any of these?

4-arm, 104 PCD chainrings.
Something like this:

Middleburn ones may look expensive, but last much longer than the Shimano ones made of Dairylea.
