Hei Hei inspiration required please

Dirt Disciple
Afternoon all,

After a few hard months of no bikes at all due to shipping (and a change of hemisphere) I finally find myself looking at my bare '95/6 frame thinking "where do I start". I have a bikes worth of parts available but could do with some inspiration to start me off in the right direction. Can any other Hei Hei owners oblige me with a pic of their pride and joy to get me going, as it were ;)

IMO low key is the way to go...XTR, black silver parts and no silly carbon wheels.

I have a Hei Hei which is hot-rodded with XTR 960 and fox float forks...looks and rides the business :D

No pics of mine, sorry - It's currently in a state of dis-array. And in a different country from me.

But you have the ultimate "blank canvas". The brushed Ti is very muted, so you could go "modern", with carbon everywhere; all black parts to contrast the frame; all polished silver; or bling it out with colored parts.

I think the main thing is to decide on a COHERENT theme:
Use 1 main color for the components and all from the same groupset/ or the same color. Keep it simple and stylish.

I always wanted to do a sort of "grey stealth" look, with XTR 950 everywhere. But full XTR seems too obvious for a HeiHei. And a bit boring.

An alternative might be brightly-colored components, but all from one manufacturer. Like Hope stuff in blue or gunsmoke. Or CK mango would look amazing with the Ti. CK brown with other parts in polished silver? Or cover it in Tune components (depending on finances ). The real Tune colors are actually much nicer than the photo...

There was a 16 inch on the local version of ebay here. The buy now was $1000.00 pacific pesos (NZD). If it is this bike he is talking about the previous owner indicated that they'd originally got it from retrobike a few years ago.

Could be a different bike altogether though they come up for sale in Wellington New Zealand all the time ;)

I was tempted myself but have just bought a house.

 You need to prioritize!

While I could choose to live on the street and have a titanium bike. I do not rate my chances of holding onto said bike while on the streets; not to mention where would I store my other 4 bikes.

That's exactly what a Hei Hei should look like.....only in my opinion though!

No right or wrong way to build a bike....every build is individual so hang on it what makes the whole thing work for you.
