Hanebrink for sale

Devout Dirtbag
Hi all, was looking for a 'what's it worth' thread on here, but couldn't fine one (if such a thing exists?)

We have had a Hanebrink donated to us and are trying to get a rough estimation of what it might be worth before trying to sell it for our charity. It does have some heritage which unfortunately we can't disclose (publicly at least) as a condition of the donation, but it shouldn't be too hard to work out with a bit of googling.

We were wondering if there are any museums or collectors who might be interested, but wouldn't even know where to start with this sort of thing.

Have only got one photo for now but can take some more if needed.

Does anyone have any more information, or give a guide on what price we should look to ask for it? My understanding is that it would have been quite expensive originally.

Thanks

This is so cool  Is it Helen Skelton's Antarctic bike? I've moved it to the correct section for you. Where abouts are you located?

Dan Hanebrink was a very well respected pioneer and his work always fetches good money. Sadly he passed away just over 5 years. This one (possibly) has a great back story and history associated with it. I should really move it to the +1998 section I think

Thanks for the info. I had read a bikepacking.com article about him, and his original fatbike so would be good to know more. Feel free to move to a different section if you feel it's more appropriate

Proper cool that!

Needs to be bought by an East London Hipster for taking on the Deliveroo riders who bomb around on their electric folding fat bike monstrosities...

I sold an identical one eventually to a chap in France a couple of years ago. I had it up for £750 but could only get £600 for it.

Mine had a blue peter badge on the head tube and was reportedly Helen Skeleton’s bike.

I’m interested in buying this one if you decide on a price and can collect from you in Manchester.

That's annoying - it would have been nice to have been allowed to edit that post rather than it just being deleted, to save me the hassle of re-uploading the photos and text. Thanks.

I'll try again - some more photos as requested: there's some light scratch marks on the fork as shown in the photos, and the rear tyre seems to have a slow puncture. It looks identical to the one you had @1978
