I don't think anyone should be too harsh on the guy- it is up to him after all. Sure, I'm writing this with clenched fists as if it's true about his parents, then it's a little weak on his part.
He should be able to command his own life. I'd tell them to swivel if if was my parents giving me an ultimatum about something I owned...
I had a vision of what a modern classic should be and achieved it with the Zaskar. The yellow forks were chosen as it was such a classic image of a Zaskar in some of the prime years when I was racing a lot of XC. They do fit the bike well and I'm glad it was them and not a gold fork, or a rigid. The yellow suited the Reba as the fork isn;t a million miles away from the shape of a Judy.
The old Mags and Sls were far slimmer.
Bear in mind I had a time limit, and limited resources to use to get this bike rolling.
I really hope it goes to someone that will love it. The guy that won it was over the moon- genuinely- and if he's being forced to sell it then I feel sorry for him. However, if he's seeing some flash cash dangling in front of him, then it makes my arse hole itch.
Of course I'm going to be narrow minded on this, as it bothers me.
However, I do understand that people enter comps with no idea they might win, and then win and don't know what to do with the prize. Or that people enter comps to win the prize and flog it.
I just hoped for more.
Oh well.
I'm starting on another Retro modern build any minute now, but something a little brighter...
