I'll ask again, does it looks like this?:

GTMotoZaskar005.jpg

Don't think that is the zaskar he is looking for....not retro, not made in the usa.

I know it isn't the one he's looking for but it sounds like this one is a Zaskar and 7000-series tubing. If he bought a frame like this one it is indeed a Zaskar and 7000-series, but obviously not the one he wants.

My point is perhaps the seller isn't lying but the buyer just didn't know what he was buying...

In the first post of this thread, the buyer states the description of the ebay ad: "It was advertised as a 10/11 year old Zaskar which i thought would qualify it to be hand built in America with 6061."

So if it is anything like yours, the seller was indeed misleading and the buyer did know what he was looking for in a retro zaskar.

morning moring ... and the saga goes on!.

Pickle - Sorry mate I dont have the advertisment but ill let you know if i want to sell - im hoping to get my money back to be honest.

Wold Ranger - sorry for not answering you earlier, but no that doesnt look like the Zaskar I have, the one I have looks exactly like any other Zaskar I have seen but with 7005 stamped on it - its also ball burnished.

Huntso - Thats what im hoping if indeed the bike is not a Zaskar surely it has been advertised incorrectly and i will be able to refund through paypal/ebay... im hoping.

GM123 - Just been reading through that link and thats not the bike i have, spec doesnt look the same and mines ball burnished....LOL!!!

I'll get those pics up later - hopefully that will give us the true answer.

Tell me if I'm being rude, but what did you pay for it?

Is it a complete bike?

What spec (ie LX, XT, XTR, suspension etc)?

Paid £300 for it, it was advertised as having xt brakes, shifters and XTR front mech, with XTR rear mech but again once i recieved it this doesnt look correct.... to be honest once i noticed the 7005 stamped on it i didnt look at it any further at the rest of the bike for fear of throwing it across the room! :x ....... ill take a peek tonight but im sure the componants arn't as advertised either.

Right here it is, what you reckon peeps?. From what i can see only the front/rear mech and pads are XT, all the rest are Deore. Looking bak at the ad he hasn't mentioned much about the add he has advertised as follows, its only ny 'questions to sellrer' that mention it being 10 yr old american Zaskar:

GT Zaskar Aluminum frame

Polished finish

Shimano XTR / XT Gear and brake sets

Rock Shocks front forks

New Tyres

Mavic Rims and oversize hubs

Looks like an Avalanche to me, especially with the mudguard eyelets.

I'd buy it of you as a whole ;)

The stickers are in the wrong place, the GT on the downtube is too far forward and the Zaskar sticker is too far back, probably a decent bike but most definetely not a Zaskar let alone an LE.

oh dear! :? as i as expected though. Sorry guys not going to sell, ill be trying to get a refund for the £300 i paid. How do i verify to paypal its not a Zaskar - I was thinking of taking the serial number to GT and seeing if the can confirm in writing? what do you think?

The GT brand has changed hands a few times since this bike was made and the records might be a bit hit and miss.
Think your problem might be in proving that the seller was knowingly inaccurate.
He will say he bought it as a Zaskar and you bought it having seen the picture with the opportunity to ask questions. Seems he has omitted the truth about the parts rather than lying outright.

Only playing devils advocate and I think its a rotten thing to do, but can see you having a problem or two
Maybe he will be honourable and refund you, but I have my doubts.
