Bought recently a 1992 Xizang from a member here, so it's time to join the club :).

SN / MADE IN USA Stamping - G18100, Made in USA
Seat Tube Insert/Shim - yes
Head Tube Shape - Straight with collars
Rear Brake Hanger - none/u-brake
Rear Dropouts - no-logo
Cable Routing - external
Stickers - not originals

The odd thing on these frames seems to be the seatpost size which should be 27.2mm, but there seems to be several examples from 1992 which need a 27.4mm post - possibly reamed.

-Number 22 on the list here: G16020 - 16" - 92
- one on a german forum: http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/showthread.php?p=8853973
- one in the Netherlands, owner is a member here

I don't know yet what size of seatpost the previous owner used, but hopefully he'll reply my message soon. Is this how the original insert should look like or is this modified (not mine)?

Welcome to the club! Seat post shim looks normal, mine is cruder than that.

Mine is a '92 LE U-brake model. I use a (ti) 25mm USE post, a 27.6 shim will not allow the post to fit, but a 27.4mm shim leaves the post feeling a bit loose, hence I bought a 27.6mm to try which is now sat in my tool box.

Mine used to be 27.2 but is now 27.4 (coke can shimmed) I put it down to a bit of stretching over the last 19 years, I only started shimming it around 2 years ago as it seems to be a lot do do with the collar and seatpost combo.

Just accepted delivery of mine last night and I cant wait to get her built up!

Serial Number- G18421 MADE IN USA
Seatpost - Shimmed, feels good with a 27.2 but will check with a micrometer
Headtube - straight gauge inside collars outside top and bottom
Rear Brake Hanger - Canti brake
Rear Dropouts - No logo
Cable routing - External
Stickers - orange "competition series" on the seat stays and "xizang" on the top tube, who knows if they're original
