GT RTS All Terra Mountain Bike with Girvin Vector Forks

Pickle, could you please tell me what you used in order for the fork to fit inside the headset without any movement?

1) Forks in

2) Fit any headset spacers necessary (I used x1, but this all depends on your stem)

3) Stem on

4) Top cap on

5) Do up bolt tightening top cap to the star nut

6) Tighten stem bolts

Job done

Pickle, do you have any idea why I have a squeaky rear shock? I tried to take it apart as much as I could and then I cleaned it, put grease on it and put it back together but unfortunately it made no difference.

It happens when the spring gets compressed. I have tried reseating it, but this made no difference.

I know this is a long shot, but are you sure its your shock and not your bushes?

Try spraying WD40, GT85 or similar quality lubricant on your pivot points and just check.......

Pickle, thank you for this advice but I have already sprayed them with GT85 to ensure it is not joints.

What exactly would these shock bushes look like? anyhow?

The reason I think it is the spring is because when I get someone else to compress the spring, the noise comes from the area of the spring, nowhere else.

Shock bushes look a bit like large Polo's, and fit at the pivot points.

Have you tried Ebay for a replacement shock unit?

Nope, but do I need to? Surely a clicky noise can be fixed?

Sometimes it can be more cost and time effective to just bite the bullet and buy a new item, than chasing round for days looking for a solution......

If I cant repair or solve a problem within say a week, I'll buy a replacement or give the job to an 'expert'.

Just may take on the matter, whatever the item/job is

In two weeks I am getting new cassettes installed, a new chainset, chain, and new wheels/hubs. When those are done the bike will be riding like a beauty.

I want to see if this can be fixed before I take it in, what could it be?

With the shock, I honestly have no idea

As for the Vector, take a pic or 2 and bang it in the 'Whats My XYZ Worth' thread here in MTB Chat.
