I was warned that this would happen 
anyway...the stumpy here;

Which has served me so well, was proving to be be a pain (in the back)....the years have taken their toll on some old serious injuries. So I had a mooch around for something more 'comfy', and something I had always lusted after back in the day, but could not justify the cost. The bay turned up a winner as usual, and under a hundred quid got me a straight, pretty unmarked frame. The specialised was the donor for the parts (except the forks which I already had), so it is full XT, with all parts being low use (I had totally rebuilt the Stumpy shortly before storing it)....The only problem being the front mech which needs to be 31.8mm for the new/old frame, so a trip down to the local shop was needed (the guy there said the LTS would be good for hanging on the wall as an ornament, as things had moved on a bit 'these days')...main bearing / chips and horsts are BETD (brilliant quality and service).
Just been out for a shake down......and what a revelation.....(I am an engineer by trade, so took a full two careful days over the build, with plenty of attention to lubes etc.).......a dead quiet, smooth ride....uncanny over bumpy single track....I won't be doing anything daft on this, just cross country use, but I am soooo glad I didn't get one back in the days when I was a bit more serious.....We used to scream down the bumpy hills around Aldershot (long valley, caesar's camp, 'brickey hill'), and I have the broken ribs to prove it.........mounted on one of these back then, I can imagine I would have had a massive shunt as it seems so stable and fast (until you run out of talent!)....we used to see the high 40's on the speedo down one nasty steep hill out the back of the ranges, with bits of brick and even a length of rebar sticking out. First time down was on the brakes....after a couple of dozen times we were flat out at the top and hanging on....you know how it is!
P.S....I KNOW the decals are LTS-1, and in the wrong position, and the frame should not be polished.......but it is MY ride so ner!
