Grips - tips and tricks please!!

Sat the grips in hot (not boiling) water for 3-4 minutes and they slid on a charm! My first build should be ready in the next few days so I will put a thread up for it. It's not entirely period correct, but most of it is :)

Zip ties around the inside in line with the bar and pulled out with pliers once grip in place...... :roll:

This is how I have always done it, although the hot water is straight from the kettle normally.

Does the Hairspray trick work on Carbon bars??? I put mine on with Washing up liquid & they've not set quite. Bit of a roll but not enough to distract riding...are the above tips just for aluminium?...
 
Used to use hairspray, never had a problem with it but I am currently preffering GT85 as there is less mess using the tube to concentrate the spray inside the grip.
