Great news. Ebay drops seller charges!

Mine sold through an accepted offer. And it looks like ebay just atomatically charged the buyer £4 for posting an 8kg item

Or it is possible that the listing got renewed straight onto "easy" bullshit a couple of days ago.

Oh also they refuse to pay me the money unless I provide my NI to them for tax purposes. Rachel has got to finance all them Storm Shadow orders I guess.

I'm glad I'm old, because I really don't like where this world is going.

By the way recently these bastards were overcharging for shipments compared to going straight to courier.

Now I'm wasting time talking to either some AI gizmo or a braindead customer service assistant.

I saw that but only thought it was a service they offered rather than something they was pushing on us!

Their postage costs are awful. Sometimes massively underpriced or overpriced. Ffs

Got an email from them today:
Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.

They are pushing this on us.

But I'm surprised they pushed it on my today's sale as well.

While we are all reluctant to accept change, most change brought to us by the megacorps makes them more money and less liable. 🙄

On the+ve note, if you let ebay buy the courier service(making sure the weight and sizes are correct) they then deal with the "I never got it mate" customers, including compensation.

And having to identify yourself for tax purposes should stop all those traders who pretend to be private
(so avoid taxes and liability)
and those offshore sellers with UK distribution can't operate multiple accounts to keep below the vat threshold.

A private seller can turn over a few thousand £ iirc

As a business, its impossible to compete with tax dodgers.

Ebay still charge us 14% though, including on postage🤣

Don't think so. If you used to ship with tracked delivery, nothing changes, just now you don't have a choice and you'll be overcharged shipping.

It also means that HMRC will be bullying all the upright private seller folks into paying taxes on selling their used things. Illegal, but taxman doesn't care. Presumption of innocence does not apply to HMRC, as proven many times over the years. You'll have to prove that you don't owe them tax while wasting hours of your time dealing with some halfwit on the phone.

My two problems are;
When I buy my RM / PF post myself I can ask them to bring a label. On simple postage I can't (unless I can but not bright enough to figure that out yet).
EBay charging £13.63 for PF when I can send a frame/forks/pair of wheels worth up to £150 for 9.65.
FWIW, I pay tax on the majority of my sales as I'm well over the limits and have to self assess anyway, the only reason I'm not a business seller is because I don't want random, unknown strangers to add up my items then know where to get them with a 100% discount.
