Castrol LM for most in the past but now use Mobil xhp222, the blue goo!
For special stuff, Superlube ptfe grease. Graphite where applicable.
A big fan of Kluber lubrication if you can afford it! At the Uni, I worked on a 100KnF friction welding machine at 2000rpm. I had to re lube and adjust the massive spindle bearings frequently. Which was at least a two day job. The spindle was upgraded by the manufacturer using the Klubergrease, just one light smear application followed by a long running in process to embed the lubricant into the surface of the bearings. After that, my experiments on welding Tank armour plating and Aerospace materials ran without interruption, ever after. The 50 micron end float at cold free play in the spindle never changed and running the spindle at 30°c eliminated the 50 microns. Mind you a 1ltr tub was £1000 around 8yrs ago.
