130 or 135mm wide for the rear axle?

135 /100. So good for mtb hubs.

The frame weighs in at about 2.3kg

Just to be clear....the frame weighs 2.3kg, the forks are another 0.93kg.

If it was 2.3kg in total and steel, it would probably hold some kinda record!

Not the best pic but this what I’ve ended up building… or a version of it anyway! It turns out 44mm tyres were a bit ambitious when I wanted to fit a bottom pull FD. I’ve ended up fitting some skinnier tyres and the FD for commuting and town riding at the moment. I’ll put some more rubber on for some off road stuff in the summer.

I went for a whole variety of bits (Deore xt/tripke stronglight/ bar top friction shifting) as well as some super cheap wheels (heavy!) which are a gamble.

Not entirely retro but built with a similar spirit. It’s going to be well loved. Thanks Tootyred!
