Hmmm, I'm not sure, because I definitely had that happen and they were demanding about £1.50 for quite some time until they admitted it should be refunded. Maybe they/Paypal tightened something up to allow them to take it after that.
However, if you sell under non-promotional times, isn't the ebay fee 10% and PayPal 3.50% ish, i.e. 13.5% in total? So the ebay managed route at 12.5% is cheaper, no?
The massive difference is that its your personal home bank account, not your PayPal account. I use my PayPal account like a small money box. Yes ebay could raid it, but only up to whats in it......not much. This was then fed to paypal by a credit card only used for that purpose. Quite a few hoops to get anywhere near my " home" bank.
Allow direct access. No way .
Well ive had to supply all the banking details to ebay, and it is similar to that of paypal, but i am under no illusion that it is nothing more than greed on their part, in that they are holding monies in an attempt to gain interest off it, and have been left feeling vulnerable by their new and constantly changing practices.
I no longer feel comfortable about selling on ebay, and feel they couldnt give a rats 4r5e about that one way or the other.
