Oh my word. That is a thing of beauty! Who ever said it looks like a department store bike ........ I can't even comment on that. This is a very rare custom built bike from RM's top builder. Derek Bailey aka Bill B. I've had my eye open for this exact bike for ages after riding one in the mid 90's. Even at 5 years old, it rode better than most high end steeds.

The only thing I'd do to that ride is give her a bath. It looks like you still use it like it was intended to be used which is awesome.

I'd like to see some more pics please. Maybe some close ups of the lugs and I'm curious about a close up of the fork / stem. My Thunderbolt originally came with a brazed "roll-a-head" fork specific to RM's and I know that many people opted for those on the Tantalus bcak in the day. If that's a roll-a-head then that bike just went up even more in rarity and value.

Out of curiosity, where did you pick it up?

It's not often I get to open a forum and see something so unique. Thanks for posting this.

(PS. no bar ends.)

The Tantulas is from a former racer. It took about 1 month us talking about bikes and the results. I traded my Rocky Mountain Instinct and my older titanium road bike (which was rarely used and in great condition) for his Tantulas, $200 and a bottle of pop! He still owns me the bottle of pop!

We both think we got the short end of the deal.

Oh he got the short end. Nice negotiation.
