Yeah but the loads on a low riding moth were not much.
 
I agree they are different, panel stiffness rather than a tube frame like a bike. The point I was trying to make away back was that well-designed carbon fibre should not break and has stood the test of time.
 
Agreed. Modern carbon sailing boat hulls and spars are far more durable than their wood, fiberglass and metal predecessors.
 
I've lost count of all those early 1990's Look/TVT/Alan frames I've seen on ebay over the last 12 months....they must still be pretty damn solid at the prices they've been going for!

If one genuinely can't notice a tangible performance difference between modern carbon frames and steel retro stuff...I seriously recommend they get in touch with a fitness coach and 'get the miles in' whilst winter is still here!
