For sale Geoffrey Butler 1990's, 22 Inch / 56cm, Steel Frameset, with Campagnolo Mirage Headset, ITM biG One Stem and ITM Bars.
Geoffrey Butler is the brother of the famous Claud Butler. Their bike shop specialises in light steel road bikes.
Based in London (Croydon?) since the 1950's I believe. The company was forced to shut its door indefinitely last year.
Here is a link to their web page: https://www.gbcycles.co.uk/
Very interesting frameset. I am not sure what type of steel it's made of, but it's really light, the top tube "sounds" like it's butted
and a sticker on the forks says: "Ares ExtraLight".
The frame got some interesting features like internal rear brake routing (I left brake cable armour in, so it will be easier for a new owner to run brake cable),
or a little "cube" shaped rear brake mount. Overall condition is great for a steel frame that's around 25-30 years old.
If you look a the pictures, you will find very little rust. Threads are in great shape.
The frameset comes with all the bits attached that you can see in the pictures. That included Campagnolo Mirage Headset (good bearings),
plastic cable guide at the bottom of BB, gear cable adjusters (on the bottom tube), ITM biG One Stem (in very good condition) and ITM Bars
(bars are scratched in many places and there are tape glue marks).
I have stripped this bike down for parts just recently and I have to say that every single screw and bolt on this bike was properly greased
and the previous owner must have been taking real good care of it. The bike seemed to be maintained on a regular basis before I took it apart.
You can see the whole bike in the last photo (just to show how it looked. For sale is a frameset with extras ONLY!).
If you want to own a piece of British cycling history that is not made of rust, here it is
Feel free to make me an offer.
Cash and collection from Birmingham B36, or I can post to UK Mainland if you require.
