For sale Geoffrey Butler 1990's, 22 Inch / 56cm, Steel Frameset, with Campagnolo Mirage Headset, ITM biG One Stem and ITM Bars.
Geoffrey Butler is the brother of the famous Claud Butler. Their bike shop specialises in light steel road bikes.
Based in London (Croydon?) since the 1950's I believe. The company was forced to shut its door indefinitely last year.
Here is a link to their web page: https://www.gbcycles.co.uk/
Very interesting frameset. I am not sure what type of steel it's made of, but it's really light, the top tube "sounds" like it's butted
and a sticker on the forks says: "Ares ExtraLight".
The frame got some interesting features like internal rear brake routing (I left brake cable armour in, so it will be easier for a new owner to run brake cable),
or a little "cube" shaped rear brake mount. Overall condition is great for a steel frame that's around 25-30 years old.
If you look a the pictures, you will find very little rust. Threads are in great shape.
The frameset comes with all the bits attached that you can see in the pictures. That included Campagnolo Mirage Headset (good bearings),
plastic cable guide at the bottom of BB, gear cable adjusters (on the bottom tube), ITM biG One Stem (in very good condition) and ITM Bars
(bars are scratched in many places and there are tape glue marks).
I have stripped this bike down for parts just recently and I have to say that every single screw and bolt on this bike was properly greased
and the previous owner must have been taking real good care of it. The bike seemed to be maintained on a regular basis before I took it apart.
You can see the whole bike in the last photo (just to show how it looked. For sale is a frameset with extras ONLY!).
If you want to own a piece of British cycling history that is not made of rust, here it is :)

Feel free to make me an offer.
Cash and collection from Birmingham B36, or I can post to UK Mainland if you require.

Hi. I have the original bike as yours which has Pete Wise wheels and campagnolo hubs, mixed campag group set which were all on the bike when I bought it in 1994/5/6 directly from Geoffrey Butler in Croydon.
I used it until about 2000 then bought a Trek. It was lying around my garage until about 2009 when I took it to Action Bikes just off Victoria Street. The mechanic there said the parts were old and he could change everything or refurbish it, which is what he did so apart from a few scratches it is in very good condition and 99% original. It has since hung from the wall in my garage. Although, my son used it about twice since, and broke one of the shifters which I had a pair sent over from France and switched. I still have two shifters, one works one doesn't.
I was told that at the time if buying it, it was IMO a bargain for about £350, that it had been used for two weeks for an Adidas advert shot in Spain. If you do a web search on Jan Ulrich (yes I know!) The Chase you can see the bikes, one of which was mine and another yours I reckon. Mine doesn't have the sticker though and no frame number other than 56 (Frame size) under the bottom bracket. I was thinking it's got to be worth something with those parts and the provenance. Although I don't think I have the receipt.

It is a lovely bike.
The person I sold the frame to was very happy with it if I remember right.
If you want to sell it, "retrobike" is a good place to do it.
I love the stealthy grey colour. Internal brake routing and a few other details are nice too.
Unfortunately, I'm 6'3" tall, so 56cm is way too small for me.

Thanks. I'll do that. I've also got a Norman Invader frame and original forks which I got knocked off in 1983 in Lee South East London. My Dad bought it in the late 50s then he resprayed it for me in about 1974 and put a huret derailleur on it in place of Sturmey Archer.

Sadly I don't have the badge but you can see the original metallic red under the respray.

Same site?

I'm after a hand built bike having never had one before. And need the funds.

Yeah. Both bikes will fit this web page well if you want to sell them.
Not sure about the pricing. I got a bargain on Butler on eBay.
Won the auction for the whole bike at £92 and the chap was local, so even delivered it to me free of charge.
You can always try eBay, but I wouldn't recommend auctions. Buy now/make an offer would work better for you.
Then there is www.pinkbike.com, www.singletrackworld.com and www.lfgss.com. I'm sure that there is more.
Also Gumtree, Shpock and FB marketplace (but be careful dealing with people there).
All the websites mentioned above got "buy/sell" categories.
As for pricing, you may have to do your own research.
Good luck with the sale and with your custom build bike.

I concur with Polar Bear. If not versed in selling, I'd recommend to avoid Gumtree, FB and rest of such places and stick to forums like this and/or perhaps eBay Buy it Now with Offers accepted. GLWS
