Furthest distance you would travel ...

Around a 390ml round trip to the borders to pick up one of my Iron Horse Sundays.

The lad i bought it off had his own rally car in the garage, which matched his dads sat next to it, all very clean and immaculate

I'll travel if it's worth it. I think the furthest was Nottingham - 180 miles each way.

Also done Cornwall, Norfolk, Cardiff, Brighton.

If it's worth it, it's worth it.

Re:

I dont drive so once paid a mate to take me to coventry in his focus to a blind sale, guy just said he had a house full of bikes and parts - he was NOT Lying Literally EVERY room was bike related, like a big shed (he'd never heard of Retrobike)..... 280 mile round trip, ended up with 16 pairs of wheels, 6 pairs of tyres and 8 framesets, car was packed!

well worth it

Re:

I once drove 350 miles to pick up a terrible Itera plastic bike for a friend. Started off in drizzle that ended up turning into a full-on blizzard the further north we got. Darkness fell, the snow got worse and the roads got smaller. Just a couple of minutes from our destination and without any warning my car decided to conveniently slide off the road into a ditch. The deep snow cushioned the blow but we were well and truly stuck, in the middle of nowhere.
A short call to the seller resulted in a huge tractor appearing out of the snowy darkness half an hour later. It plucked the car out in the blink of an eye and then promptly disappeared into the night. The journey home was never ending, crawling along blinded by an onslaught of horizontal snow, the only reprieve being a stop at a pizzeria which amusingly had a full blown porn shop attached to it hidden behind a glittery curtain.

No limit in mainland UK. I've been around 600 mile round trip but incorporated it with a scheduled work visit at the time. Done similar trip since I left work but made a trip out of it in the campervan. For something I thought was special & wanted I'd do same or further again. Not just bikes. Done similar with Mrs - 3 day trip to collect a pew she wanted for the house, even though it was only 300 mile round trip.

Re:

I went to Llille on the Eurostar to get a bike once. Actually not that far distance wise but a bit convoluted. I did have a nice day out as well though

I think it depends on whether it's possible to make a day out (or longer) of it.

Usually I reckon about 80 miles each way.

Worst trip many years ago was Exeter to London on the train only to arrive just as the bike was being strapped to the roofrack of a Morris traveller. The seller obviously didn't believe I'd turn up even though I'd spoken to him on the phone.

I did go Exeter to Swansea a few years later for a nice Raleigh Classic.

Stockholm to Eblag in Poland. Seller's father drove from Kaliningrad with Ti frame to meet me in Eblag where
the deal was finalised (over the phone with the seller due to language issues).

I did have the intention and invitation to go all the way to Kaliningrad for pick-up, but I didn't get my act
together and sort out a Russian visa in time.

EDIT: it was sold and purchased via this forum

I recently drove 250 km's round trip to pick up a couple of road bikes which turned out to be pretty interesting.
