I recently took on a job to shorten a 150mm Fuquay stem and add a reproduction cable hanger.
I believe the stem to be early Greg Fuquay as it’s 1”, 150mm and fillet brazed.
Shortening is pretty routine stuff, alignment is always a challenge, but working methodically keeps things on track.
The hanger was a little different. All I had to go on was a poor resolution picture, the memory of the stems owner and the bend radius of brake cable outer.
But with a bit of back and forth with the comms we got the hanger design agreed. I’m told Greg Fuquay liked to keep things simple, often the best way. This hanger is exactly that, a piece of 10mm bridge tube cut back with a cable stop inserted. Simple but effective.
All done and now ready for paint. Should be the perfect addition to the customers latest Fuquay build.
