Hey all, not been on in a while but after finally getting some time to myself to fiddle with bikes i find myself with a bit of an issue.
As usual i've been keeping an eye out for cheap bits and bobs popping up and one i got a few months back was an E13 42t extended range sprocket for my 2011 Whyte T120. Didn't realise when i bought it that it wouldn't be compatible with the X9 rear mech i had on so when i found one for a decent price, a SRAM GX 2.1 clutch type rear mech was purchased (long cage as per the X9)
This is where the issues start!
Bought a new SRAM chain as well, (think it was 114 links off the top of my head) but with the rear suspension fully compressed its a couple of links too short on the big/big ring method, thats no bother really but at the other end of the scale, its too long on the small/small ring!!!
Now something like the big/big ring combo is never ever going to be used in real life so would it be safe to setup say around the original 36t largest cog perhaps or should i have got a medium cage rear mech?
Thanks in advance and merry christmas!
