Hi all,at the beginning of the year I bought a 2007 FSR XC frame off the bay on a whim(as you do).The ad said no cracks but well used and the rear H link had been repaired.I have never has a Full susser before and having a few bits and bobs kicking around I though I would build something I could get grubby and not worry too much about.Anyway the frame landed and it was obvious I had got into something I wasn't prepared for.The rear Xfusion shock was knackered and the H link was worn out.
I tried a few bids on Stumpys to get a H link in better condition, but I was struggling with spending another 100.00 or more just for the link. A couple of months past and eventually a link new link came up on the bay for 15.00.Bargain. Now for the shock. And as you have guessed, the shock was no rebuild kits for the Xfusion. I had some offers of help from a couple of places,"send it in and we will rebuild it for you" but again I was looking at 100.00. So "easy" I thought, just get the right dimensions and find another shock. Which I did.Correct dimensions except for the fact that the new DT unit(£45.00 IIRC)off the bay had different size spacers and was far too big for the frame and link.
So I had a machine shop run the spacers down to fit. This took 5 months  but cost a tenner .
Then I find they had lost 2 of the seals,so I had a rummage around at work and found some nice green air conditioning o ring that were close.I am finally getting somewhere now,so if like me,the situation looks dire, keep going and think of other ways around problems. I nearly gave up,Im glad I didn't.I have had a test ride today and Im really pleased with the outcome.
