front mech size for 1991 GT Zaskar

Hi i'm looking for the size of a front mech to fit a 1991 GT Zaskar. if it helps the seatpost size is 26.8

Any ideas please, i did try a 31.8 but thought it was a little loose

31.8 was common size in all Zaskars. How odd.

Same here thought i'm in here with the 31.8 just checked the seatpost clamp and it coming out at 31.0 dia. looks to be odd size to :roll:

Well, depends how loose is 31.8 can of coke or thin plastic shim is probably best way to sort this out.

Thats a good idea mate, think that's the way matey,, just thinking thought would a 31.8 band type mech tighten beyond 31.8 to nip up on this frame :roll:

My 92 has a 31.8 clamp and measures 31.7-31.9 depending on where I measure above and below the clamp with my cheap digital caliper set.

Also on this frame i'm working on the bottom of the down tube is oval just before it joins the BB is this normal on these frames :roll: it is strange this down tube is under size, seatpost size though is 26.8 and clamp is 31.0
