front mech size for 1991 GT Zaskar

:LOL: Yep i'm building it for someone on here Nigle1979 that 91 Zaskar with out the rear mech hanger :LOL:, think thats why he has wanted me to sort it build it for him :LOL:

as the seat-tube tapers, are you mounting the mech in the correct position?

about an inch above the lower bottle boss.. Looking at the pic, this seems to be the area where the tube starts to taper, hence my asking??

if it's a 31.0 seat tube, that's very strange indeed.


It's not that 'prototype' that was on ebay recently was it?? :D
 
Hi Steve mate i checked where it had been clamped before, you could see the original clamping marks, i'm not sure if it was that prototype or not, he paid £20 on ebay because of the cable hanger that was missing, also not 100% if thats damage or not, but i'm sure it should have a fixed mech hanger :LOL:

He just wanted it because it was a Zaka ER :LOL:

Would a 31.8 band type front mech work, would it tighten beyond 31.8 much
 
I don't think it would nip up the 1.8mm deficit, so (as has been mentioned already) you'll be better off shimming the thing.

might be a case of looking out for a cheap plastic USE post shim 30-->31.8 and cutting 10mm off the bottom of it, to fit in the mech clamp..

Thats a good idea, think shimming is the way then :D odd Zaskar this one, when i pop round to get started on it for him i will take a good look at the frame :cool:
