Front mech requires too much force, please help!

ah, pressfit BB.
it's dictated by the width of your BB shell then, most Shimano Cranks are designed for 73mm shell width (I think that's right) so for a 68mm shell you will need space out by 3-5mm. the spacer sits behind the race against the crank you are correct. I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but worth a measure of the BB shell to see what it is.

In my mind yes...I always do the math first then use a straight edge to check!
With that pic tho to me...something is different to how it was intended?

Agreed. I assume it was because LBS only had certain Size BB in stock. But still seems odd to me given spindle length is fine.

Found this, it’s 24mm internal, 3mm wide, bit large in diameter so looks a bit odd but it will do the job for testing

Axle now looks a bit short, not sure if it’s an issue?

Could be a mix of things! Off-centre spindle different cranks maybe a 73mm in a 68 who knows etc ..but if it works? Saul Goodman

looks like pushing you down the wrong path. sorry. seems your axle is right for the BB shell, but rings are not located in right place for mech. so many variables to this.
