Production of Alcyon bicycles began in 1902, and motorcycles in 1904 with the creation of a model with a ZL2 engine. Alessandro Anzani won the 1905 World Motorcycle Champion on a Buchet-powered model.

That same year, the Alcyon cycling team was founded. The brand equipped a large number of professional and amateurs cyclists of the era. Alcyon bicycles won 14 Tours de France, 12 Paris-Roubaix, and 13 Bordeaux-Paris races. A small manufacturer based in the western suburbs of Paris, Alcyon was one of the most successful in France. Its annual successes in the Tour de France earned it the nickname "the intrepid Alcyon."

Subsequently, Alcyon acquired various brands such as "Cycles A. Thomann" (1911), "Armor," "Labor," "Olympique Cycles," and "La Française Diamant" (1923).

Before the First World War, Alcyon also built a few automobiles, but commercial failure put an end to this diversification.
