Hi guys......picked up an old carrera vulcan to practice on and maybe earn couple quid.

overall its cleanish and all there but was in bits.(it was free :) )

the previous owner had taken it upon himself to remove the casstte and hub body.
so I have an ice cream box with lots of bearings and assorted parts.

How do I remove whats left of the freehub? Is it a screw on?
Presume I can pick up a cheap complete freehub instead of trying to put this one back together.

Could just bin it all but the learning experience will be good :)

Re:

That's no freehub, it is a good old freewheel. You can rebuild it if needed, or remove what's left of it using an extractor if you are posh, or seeing as it's stripped down, gripping it in a vice and unscrewing it.

Re:

looks like an stx hub with a fubarred freehub to me, if so, remove the axle and use a humungous allen key (someone clever will tell you what size) to remove the remainder of the freehub. You will need a new freehub body to screw on. i have one spare if you can persuade me to be arsed to get it, mines 8 speed however, so check what speed cassette you have otherwise you will be redishing and ting and faff

No it isn't. You can clearly see the inner bearing race for the freewheel on the bit that's on the hub. It's the inner side of the freewheel body still screwed onto the hub. Also, there should be an outer bearing race on the axle where all you see is the big nut.
