If you use the website send.parcelforce.com they will pick a boxed frame up from your house for £9.65 up to 5kg and bring the label. Just don't go OTT with the box size.
I've always used ParcelForce, 48hr, and usually drop off at the depot near work (or Post Office). If you pay on their website you can get shipping for £10-15 or less if you keep the box size to a minimum.
Boxes, I go to Halfords and ask them for one of the cardboard bike boxes that they just chuck out anyway = free! Bigger boxes I "cut & shut", smaller bike boxes are ideal for frames though.
Packing, I bought a big roll of 100m x 750mm bubble wrap on eBay for £22, which lasts for quite a few bike frames/wheels etc!
Cut and shut a bike box from LBS to get it under 135cm in length and under 62cm(!) in height and its about a tenner. I've used the pickup from home service mostly. LBS usually have boxes with the packing/padding still in, albeit torn about a bit.
