Frame i-d, photos + serial no (help)???

Hi, thanks all for your attention.

I'm renovating my unidentified 531 bike this spring/summer, some details below which I hope you may be able to help with because I've hit a brick wall:

Lugs are quite distinctive, but actually proved to be in fairly wide usage for a while. I've seen photos of many makes using the same, mostly 531 from as early as 1979 (Raleigh Track) through to mid 1990's (Graham Weigh) & including in between: Steve Goff, Keith Coppell, JF Wilson, Harry Hall, Nigel Dean, Bob Jackson & Ellis Briggs.
Can anyone help me narrowing down list according to serial no or even serial no format?

Serial no looks like 415 but paint is quite thick & there's small possibility it could be 4-digits. Also seems to be logo in diamond shape. If bike were upside down with front of bike to your left it would read horizontally near the top edge of bb.

I believe the bike spent its whole life in north of England before I took it down to Cornwall.

It has custom braze-on on top-tube for race no, braze-on for front mech, concealed rear brake cable, campag rear dropouts & chrome forks under that paint!

I don't think there's anything distinctive about bridges & seat stay caps can be seen in pics.

By the way - I'm thinking of powder-coating frame, prob sky blue. Questions:
1) can you line lugs easy enough by hand on top of powder coat with say a humbrol enamel?
2) can you paint strip forks & leave chrome underneath undamaged?

All of my Dad's frames serial numbers started with KC and probably had four numbers following the KC.

I'd avoid powdercoat if possible, its more than likely to be thick around the lugs and you'll lose the defined edge. Paint is more expensive but much better. Powdercoat will also give you a problem with lug lining as some paints won't key to the surface. Humbrol is ideal for lug lining but use a draftsmans lining pen. Dip the pen then clean the sides with a tissue, then get the paint flowing on some paper before you start lining.











The chrome will be fine if you use a chemical paint stripper like Nitromors
