forks i picked up today - ID help

picked these suss forks up for a fiver today had no air in them but took a chance... cleaned up nice and seem to hold air ok, damping works :D seals say marzocchi so after looking around i recon theyre 1994 XC51?
not sure if theyre staying on the GT, i'll have to go a-headset if they are...

I have some of those. Nice, but watch the crown. Mine have cracked (big time!) and I believe there was a recall on the fork crowns BITD. There is a date cast into the back of the brake arch. Mine is '93, and should have been replaced during the recall. A quick web search should uncover all the sordid facts.
And if anyone has an intact crown for one of these, I'm all ears!

yep ive seen loads on the net about the crowns on these... i'm gonna try em out on my GT but already i'm not sure i like the look, i prefer it rigid :cool: if i decide not to keep em i'll let you know the crown is fine (at the mo) on these ones
 
if you could ever be described as "chunky" you'll hate them

they're VERY noodly.
 
i think that crowns are still available for these from wind-wave. i ordered one for my dh3 about a year ago, i even got to choose the colour! it wasnt expensive either(in the scheme of things), about £20 i think? you have to be careful tightening them up, like motocross and road-race forks, you dont tighten them up as much as you think they need to be, the use of a torque wrench is a must. ;)
