Hey all

I'm stripping down a foes weasel for repaint.

can anyone tell me how to remove the swing arm?

Looks like an alloy pipe that goes all the way thru, tried pushing it but no movement, (didn't want to damage it)

All the best

Doug

I pulled the SA off my Iron Horse THS-1 and cleaned/greased it when I got the frame a month or so ago. It was made on contract by Brent, and is for all intent an purpose a short travel Weasel. Find something that has an OD slightly larger than the pivot and slightly smaller than the ID of the swingarm (IIRC I used a 32mm socket with an extension) as a drift punch. Undo the bolts and tap it out. May want to use some WD or Liquid Wrench on it first to loosen up any built up gunk. Be careful you don't catch the o-rings with the pivot on reassembly.

My old Foes bikes were easy, I just unscrewed the pinch bolts and popped the pivot out without any further ado. Would echo the WD40 approach.

hey all

cheers for reply's,

Ive tried pressing and a gentle tap with a socket and nothing, i don't really want to try WD40 as the bearings are good,

ill try hitting harder!

:D

Bearings?

The shaft runs on Delrin bushings. WD isn't going to harm them.

yes bearings.

will add a pic.

this is a 1997 frame...

well the quick answer is no.

it is now sat at the engineering dept Cambridge. They have removed bearings and are machining out the collar.

its seems exteme but this is all we can do, once done it will have a custom made bush which is removable!

long winded! wish it was the early model which was removable!

Doug.
