It seems to me that Flite saddles are extremely popular on many builds and look just right as although they were not often specced out of the factory they were a frequent upgrade BITD.

I appreciate that not everyone gets on with them comfort wise but are there any examples of where a Flite really doesn't work from an aesthetic point of view or are they a very safe and classy option?

A design classic without doubt. Can see mine from here and the curves and overall appearance make it difficult to fault. I'd only ever replace it with a brooks swift...

As a finishing touch to a build, they work. In fact, I'd call them a 'timeless classic'. I know that I have chosen one to top off my RTS. It also helps that they are offered in various colours (red, green, blue, grey etc etc).

However, I have not and would not choose one for my day to day ride, on the basis of:
1) lack of comfort
2) price for replacement if it gets damaged
3) they wear very quickly

Beautiful, just not practical IMO ;)

Just the best. A design classic :D I love them. wouldn't sit on any thing else

Yeah, possibly not for the daily commute but I personally have always found them exceptionally comfortable even on all day rides. And my last one made 8 years with only a bit of superglue here and there to touch up where the leather had worn through...

Vetta TT Trishock or SL for me for all day riding (TT on my Avalanche at the moment).

Flite for pimped out posing

its the law, 3 penalty points and a £60 fine if your retro isnt equipped with one...

Never mind your retro, my modern 2k6 KHS alite team is kitted out with a ti flite thats 10 years older than it.

They just work! The only bike I wouldnt put one on would be a trials frame.... and thats only because they dont have the option and holding it on with gaffer tape would just ruin the aesthetic of the saddle.

Let's be honest: most of the saddles originally spec'ed on factory-equipped machines were absolute gash!

Always one of my first upgrades BITD. For me one of the few things that has earned a deservedly high reputation.

Aye- Flite is one of those examples of a design gettin' the shape and aesthetic exactly right- nice flowing curves...............lighter and smaller saddles just look there's bits missing, bigger and more comfy ones look bulky- with the exception of the Rolls- another Selle Italia classic.

Them Italians know bum cheeks like the back o' their hands!!
