ZZ, not directly even though it's jist doon the road fae me.
My opinion? They're like any other garage, they'll rip ye off as soon as look at you. Friends who live near Kelty used to (maybe still do) get their car serviced there, they are the type who know eff all about cars mechanically but are the trusting kind and believe what they are told by a mechanic, they had no clue that the garage was ripping the pish oot them for work done on their cars. Tried to tell them but they couldn't believe that the garage would overcharge for work done or say work needed done that was unnecessary to make money out of them.
The only time I go near a garage is to get car MOTd, and since I do all the work on my cars the local garage in Kinross knows they won't get any work out of me so don't piss me around saying this or that needs done then give me a price for it.
Since I assume you are thinking of buying a car from them I don't suppose it makes much difference which garage you buy from as long as you give the car a good going over to check it out.
You do know you could combine Kelty Wids and car shopping at North Road on Sunday?
I need to drop/pick up wife on Sunday (she's working in Edinburgh) so I'll be trundling about there, fitting a run out on the bike might be a bridge too far. The car in the Kelty garage is on my backup list - can't tell much from the pics on Autotrader, but rusty disks and tyres called 'HiFly' aren't filling me with confidence that the previous owner wasn't a cheap bastard. Always a bargaining point I suppose.
The rusty disc doesn't inspire confidence in the garage as a seller. The pads are obviously not touching the disc evenly as can be seen by the rusty part and shiny part of disc. This could be down to unevenly worn pads and/or disc. I'd certainly use it as a bargaining point if all else is OK but for the garage to put a pic of a rusty disc in the ad says it all to me, what else is concealed/not mentioned about mechanical condition of car? The disc may clean up with use though and may be just lack of use due to it sitting around. If you can get a test drive use the brakes hard then have a look at discs when you get back to see if there's still rusty areas on them.
Could just be the shield plate that's rusty. The rear brakes on my first A4 were like that after 50000 miles even though mechanically the car was perfect. Sit so close to disc it's difficult to tell from photo.
