Yeah, go on then. I've been known to do a few. The biggest was the World Long Distance Mountain Running Champs (23miles/4600ft of climbing) a few years back where I ruined both my knees and had to take 6 months off...
The last was a race near Blackburn where I broke my ankle 300m from the finish whilst tussling for a top ten finish. Another six months off, started training and broke the same ankle again as the ligaments had become too stretchy!!
Happily, I'm fit again now, running 50 miles a week to get a good base in, going to start doing some speedwork soon then it's back to the hills with a number on my chest around November time.....
I still can't get over the speed at which some guys descend!! Truly suicidal....
