Feeling Hot Hot Hot…… 😎

I’m not sure how I’ve managed to keep this under wraps until now, but as many people on here know I’ve been looking for the right Hot for a while now.

I passed up on 3 last year because they were the wrong size and/or needed a respray or shipping from the US.

I really wanted a 94 - 98 model, and ideally a Reynolds 853 frame from 96-98.

Then out of no-where, the week after new year I got a message out of the blue asking if I was still looking for a Hot?

So a few weeks later (and a lot of messages back and forth), HOT 218 - an original 1996 Reynolds Stars and Bars arrives in the post!!!

A massive thanks to @Classiker for all your help with this one!

I understand this is one of potentially only 8 or 9 known Stars and Bars Hot’s (based on the Hot serial number thread), and it’s THE Hot I lusted after back in 96 when I first fell in love with Kona’s and spent hrs drooling through the catalogue. I never ever thought I’d get to own one!

The initial plan was to just swap all the parts over from my Explosif Stars and Bars copy to this, but I’ve got a bit caught up in the excitement and bought some new kit. I still need a few things (M952 shifters, brake levers and front mech if anyone has any going?) but I’ll add to this post with progress as I go.

Nice score. Any particular reason why you didn't purchase the paint matched forks?
Tbh as much as they would have looked nice, I felt that the travel wouldn’t have been enough to make it a really comfortable ride and I’ve got quite a few pairs of forks already.
