Klein live auction Somerset

How do you get such a clear photo? Are you opening on a desktop? The best I can get is this on my phone which is rubbish.

You should be able to contact the auction House and ask for a closer photo.

@player 's magic goggles have picked up something there though - it's the risk of buying at auction.
The position of the line is just a little too "normal" for comfort😬

Yep, always get a written condition report if you can't see the item beforehand. To help protect my a$$ when I bought that Merlin I told them which regions to check - describing in layman's terms as you can't assume everyone knows what the bottom bracket area is. And photos. That way having arrived and inspected you don't have to shell-out £600 if it's not as described and so you're not forced to buy a lemon.

I’ve bought a lot at auction, lots of different stuff including bikes. My rule is either see it in person before bidding or set you max bid at the level of risk you are prepared/can afford to accept. Sometimes viewing in person can help understand the nature of an auction and the integrity/authenticity of the goods there. We’ve certainly got an auction out my way who only shifts cr*p that is left after house clearance etc. The good stuff all goes elsewhere.

Do I understand it correctly that the items sell for the hammer price +c.33%?!?

re: the 30% buyers premium,
The auction House will almost certainly have a sliding scale depending on value of item, and different auction houses have different charges.

There is almost always a sellers commission too.
