Falcon Team Banana project. **finished**

I was talking to a customer the other day and he asked if I was interested in old bikes.
Today he came back to drop off a Falcon Team Banana that he said he would never get around to doing and wanted it to go to a good home.

Frame is in reasonable condition, seat post not seized, I'm guessing the b/b will be. Most of the bits will probably end up not usable, the handlebars have actually rotted through under the tape on one side.

I'm not going for originality, I will clean it up and make it usable with some reasonable bits.

Re: Team Banana project.

I don't know how many decades it sat outside, but its not pretty.

All moving parts are knackered.

Re: Team Banana project.

I've been accumulating parts.
Amazingly the b/b came out with no resistance at all.
Done some cleaning and fitted some new Nitto Randonneur bars and some newer brake levers.

Re: Team Banana project.

That's the rottiest set of bars I've seen, was it stored with that side in a pond?

What are you going to do with it? just get it back working? Or a bit more of a restoration?

I'm just getting it working and will use it as a winter road bike.

The frame and paint work has cleaned up surprisingly well. I sorted the b/b today and its now back in and running nice and smooth.
New cassette, chain and rear mech fitted, along with an Ultegra rear hub/Open pro rim.

Just need to sort front wheel, fit the 105 brakes (cheers Benjabbi) do the cables and tape the bars.
Quite looking forward to riding it.

Re: Team Banana project.

Never seen a pair of 'bars rot like that! Hope the rest of it is OK under the paint!

Re: Team Banana project.

That's it. All done, probably the quickest I have ever got through a project.

In the end, I have used parts from the 105 brakes to sort the original brakes, and I have re used the original front derailleur for now.
Hopefully I will get to ride it over Easter.

I don't know what the odds where, and I cant remember who it was that I bought it from.
At Mountain Mayhem, a single front wheel was for sale, Ultegra hub and Open Pro rim.

Now I have a matching set, the bike is looking pretty smart, rolls nice and its a pleasure to spend time on. I don't ride it that often, but try and get out on it at least once a week. Next time its clean I will try some better photos
