Don't forget these bikes were ridden with the seat post about an inch sticking out of the seat tube. Are you sure its too big?

This was set up for me as seen in photo
Plenty of scope with the height of seat post!!

That's the problem...I'm 5'7", 29" inside leg, short legs, longer body!
