Just picked up an 04/05 Stumpjumper this evening. Lovely condition, not been used for ages etc.. When I was (really gently) test riding it the shock blew up and sprayed pink oil out of the adjustment lever/knob at the top of the shock.Guy I bought it off has paperwork for a rebuild 2 years ago and it’s been hung in his garage unused since.
He knocked a chunk of money off the price and was really decent about it, threw in some other bits and bobs too.
I bought the bike anyway, it was too cheap not to.
What went wrong? Are these triad shocks any good - should I send it off for a rebuild or is it goosed you reckon??
