Everyone says you can't put 27" tyres on 700c rims.

Well no one has said why or tried to.

So...

Im going to try it.

I have two brand new 27" Bell Tread Alert tyres but only one of the wheels on my bike is 27", the rear is 700c.

So i will report back when ive tried.

Predictions

I think the tyre will fit on the rim but the inside edge of the tyre (beading?) might not touch the rim.


I will try anyway!

Im not trying to prove that it will/will not fit, i just want to try. Then i no for the future.

And if it does fit... good!

And if it doesn't... oh well!

700c (aka 29er now) = 622mm bead diameter
27" = 630mm bead diameter

So 4mm loose all the way around, which is quite a lot for a tyre, might make it too big to not just fall off the other side
That is why you cannot use them, I would assume.

Probably cos it's stating the obvious :roll: As has been mentioned upthread, 700c rims are 8mm smaller than 27" so it's pretty clear what the result will be.

If you want a challenge why not try and put 700c tyres on 27" rims

The answer is yes...provided 2 is 'big enough', per se., and rounding is permitted..
For example...
2.36 + 2.44 = 4.8...rounded to 2 + 2 = 5..

or

2+2=5 - If one is convinced that 2 + 2 = 5, then that is proof alone
