Ever notice... (steel isn't real anymore)

Nice to see ritchey doing mtb frames again. However, I'm not too keen on 29ers. They always make the rider look a like a small child with a big bike he'll grow into. Haven't ridden one though - maybe then I'd be converted?

I also like the Orange R8, and also at a bargain price   HERE

When it comes to steel you to have to look at the World economy versus supply and demand; GB has virtually NO steel industry these days, nor the coal industry to support it (all our steel comes from the Far East) whilst China has the worlds fastest growing economy with the largest steel industry, most production of which goes into the demand from the construction industry...

Port Talbot still running, plenty in France, the Ijmuiden blast furnaces are definitely going - I fly over them regularly. Most mild steel for cars made in Europe is still sourced locally I understand.

So is what we're saying here that steel is very much still real, alive, kicking and as good as ever...

Just not cheap anymore!

It's a shame nobody is making non suspension corrected frames any more, it seems everything these days is set up for 140mm+ travel forks.

I've got a nice Tange Prestige Kinesis Virsa frame here waiting to be built up. I have pretty much all of the parts already, but I'm trying to be disciplined and finish tidying my Marin Palisades Trail before I start the next project - got to keep the missus sweet ;) .

It all started when I decided to strip and clean the trusty old Hardrock. Bought a few new parts, and before I knew it I've got enough for a whole new bike! Familiar story around here I'm sure :D .

Regards
