ever had a bike stolen?

My shed was broken into around '96 and my beloved GT timberline from 1992 was stolen along with a gary fisher marlin.
Secondly my house was broken into and i had a 1997 LTS 2 stolen and a 1998 LTS1 stolen was very gutted.
A few years later i had my LTS 1000 DS stolen from INSIDE work no one saw anything!

My '92 Diamondback Apex, out of a garage. I think it was fate, with that bike, as much as I loved it, a few weeks earlier, somebody had tried to steal it whilst it was locked outsde a gym / pool. When they tried, they bent the rear wheel and chain (because of the routing of the lock, and them trying to kick it away from what it was locked to).

When it was actually stolen, I'd just about finished putting it right from the previous attempt, and the swines made off with it, and some campg rims with XT hubs, and newly replaced / upgraded gear-train.

My '95 Diamondback Apex dodged a bullet when some scrotes broke into a relative's garage, where it was stored. They nicked my hack bike (unbranded oversize alloy frame, Mavic M230 rims, STX / STX/RC gruppo) but oddly left my rather dull looking Apex. That was a sort of bittersweet moment, intensely annoyed that likely some clucking junkie may have got a tenner for a fix, from my hack bike (such a waste), but relieved they oddly didn't make off with my Apex.

LOL, cant beat a good bit of 'bite the kerb'!!

I have luckily never had a bike stolen, but some wankers once crept inside my back garden, nicked my saddle and stem and then spitefully cut all my brake and gear cables.

Then some years later whilst at uni, i took my saddle + seatpost up to my lecture (learning from past experience!), then came back, and they'd robbed my GT QR seatclamp. bloody wankers.

I remember buying a brand new Orange P7 in 1999, my dream bike at the time! Then some scrote pinched it 4 months later, cut the lock with bolt cutters then took the bike complete with broken lock.

The guy was caught later that day but the police reckoned he had a van or something local to stash bike in as a whole load of decent bikes had gone missing that day, they caught him with only one, the last one of that day so to speak.... I was furious!! and soooo gutted

OMG! I lost a P7 in 1997 to a local drug scrote. Saw a group of lads with it but was with the girlfriend at the time only so didn't fancy our chances. Little shit even offered to sell me it for £100! Got it back not long after but it was already covered it purple crap so swapped it for a 'dale of my mates :( £1100 down the toilet.

I had my Saracen Trekker comp nicked several years ago now. It was locked up with two d-locks which were attached to a steel fence (the type that looks like it's made from scaffolding). The b'stards cut the fence rather than the locks.

About 3 years later I got a phone call from the police saying that they had caught the thief and he was already doing time. They told me that I could make a private prosecution but as he didn't have any money I wouldn't get anything. Also his sentence wouldn't be increased. If I waited until he was out the it would be too long after the theft to be able to prosecute him again. It was a no win situation. I'd rather they hadn't told me they'd caught him. At least that way I wouldn't have been even more p1ssed off than I already was. But at least they were doing their job even if it was pointless to do anything about it.

Kona Cindercone, GT Borrego, GT Karakoram, Marin B17, Peugeot Puma, Specialized Stumpjumper pro, Mirra BMX, brothers racer (oops), my raleigh racer..... 3 of them i got jumped by gangs of chavs avec knives etc, 2 were D locked to railings (railings were sawn off), one locked with cheap lock - to the railings outside the police station (!?!) 2 from college (crap locks, was naieve) one (my brothers!) i got pissed and left it in my sisters garden unlocked ( ). my mate even cemented one of those "thief proof" brackets inside his locked up garage, locked his beloved Orange with 2 d-locks - nicked!

No wonder this town was in top ten chav towns, ah well, always make sure i cycle quick at nite and never leave 'em alone not even for a second.

Just looked at this post and thought, glad I dont live anywhere like that... Then i saw your location lol made me laugh.

Left my kona nunu outside queen street stores unlocked one morning. quite possibly THE worst road in the worst town for bike thieves. Got it back later that day with a hell of alot of detective work by two parties. my brothers lot got there first but we had both came to the same conclusion to get it back..

saying that about THE worst road, I actually got some no name yellow full sus bike stolen at teville gate outside east (worthing residents will know the level of grime lol) whilst i was at a battle of the bands. one of the bikes where i actually couldnt have cared less about it going missing, just annoyed that the lock had gone with it.

I Think Xesh should find out when the sc0mbag is coming out and get cannondale king to give him some education

Last year some piece of shit took my Gazelle "grandpabike", it looked that lovely, some rust but riding it was always fun. It was locked, my Cannondale was standing against it, also locked, my pubbike was against the Cannondale and they took my Gazelle....
