Any ideas of manufacturer or date? Marin Lite - 90s colourway. Was deep deep deep in the pile of rubber in the workshop. Folding. Really light (lite):

Just for the hell of it I put it on this.....which is not a MARIN. But it IS light (lite)....

Yep - got them on my 1993 Marin Indian Fire Trail.

Fitted to the higher end Marin bikes around that time.......

Re:

Brilliant - many thanks - just the right sort of date for using on AMP or Racelite even if they are not MARIN-like....hmmmm....or swap for something so a MARIN owner can cherish it....at 120tpi it’s a nice carcass....

Guaranteed there will be a Marin owner somewhere in need of that! I sold a spare pair a while back and they didn't hang around for long.....

Re:

Thanks ... I was drowning in tyres so it would be good to get it to someone who would appreciate it to complete a MARIN build.....

rare to see the logo in that good a condition. I would have been interested if it had of been a pair, and the Amp was thrown in to sweeten the deal

From hence forth you shall be known as 2manyoranges aka 2manytyres ! Another great find Tim!

ps. Bugsy first if you happen upon any White Porcs or Butterscotch Tioga Psychos!

Re:

You’re right Regan, the rubber pile frankly was a bit embarassing - luckily going down a bit. And I may not have mentioned to you that I did a terrible thing in the late 90s early 2000s....We had quite a few white porcs but they are indeed as you well know soft as soft things - great on the dusty downhills of the South Downs where I did all my riding at the time. We were a bit dismissive of them, used and consumed and threw away, but there’s one I feel bad about. It was left outside after some fettling was done and I kept meaning to put it back In the workshop. It sat there sadly, got a bit green with algae and then .... I just thought, well it’s a loner, so in the bin you go....ooops. About 2001....

Ive got a pair of these in very good condition....I have a team ti that they suit, but I don't want to wear them out!

Re:

Although perhaps one of the crustiest riders on here (scaffold pipe bikes in the 70s in Wiltshire as a teenager, Raleigh Mustang (! ....but that’s all there was then), Dawes Ranger but then Cannondale, Marin, Klein) I have only just come onto RetroBike. Until this point my bikes have all been workhorses, and worked hard. I have just got into modern geometry after a series of builds for my teenage son. Until I spoke to Regan_ev I was going to simply use and work through all the rubber in the workshop just to make space...OnZa PORCs, IRC Yetis, Ritchey Z Max, Tioga Psycho K etc etc. Then I realised that for some people the rubber is important and hard to find. I’ve put this Marin Lite over on For Sale 1995 for someone who might like it, at a price which simply allows me to replace it with a contemporary carcass for our current bikes. Like for like....sort of.
