Eroica Britannia 2016 - anyone signed up?

Ouch - £60 for a bike ride...

Which includes entry to the festival for all 3 days plus on the ride free food, tea, champagne, beer at the end and fully signed and marshalled. Compared to sportive prices I think it reasonable.

It's between 60 and 100 quid if you want to camp or take a caravan though, so
if you want to stay for the festival it'd set you back between 120 and 160 quid.

Three days in my campervan costs me £75 so £120 all in for me. At £40 a night you would struggle to get a B & B in Bakewell for that and they don't give you a Festival and a Ride.

Re:

You also get a goodie bag which last year had about 15quids worth of freebies in it.

Re:

It seems to cost between 10 and 20 quid a night for a tent or caravan pitch at
a site in the Peaks at that time of year, so that would be 30-60 quid for three nights, and that's at a properly run campsite.
The LEB price of 60-100 quid for camping on the site seems a bit overpriced, especially since it's not (afaik) a dedicated campsite.

Johnsqual, No offence, but your negative views on L'Eroica Britannia (which you are entitled to hold) are well known on this Forum, so I will not be responding any further.

Maybe we should have two Eroica threads each year - one for bitching about prices and hipsters, and another for people who actually want to talk about the ride, the festival and the bikes.

Anyway, I'm in again and am currently assembling bike #3 for year #3.
Prob just the 55 mile this time though, as my partner's also on board this year and I'll only have 2 flip-flop gears to get around on..

Re:

I'm in again for the 3rd time.

This year my wife is keen to do the 30 so I am sorting out a 1963 moulton.

I plan to do about 80 miles of the 100 at full gas then poodle round the 30 with the wife.

And if you end up riding the event with hipsters, you get to choose which thread to post on

Re:

I am hoping to ride in 2016 . Just trying to stop things clashing . A ride up the A6 from home and back with the 30 mile route would give and a nice ride at 80 miles . Flat there and back plus if I spend to much time in the beer tent after I can get the boss to bring the broom wagon to tidy me up

All this whining about hipsters; they are very much the minority at the event so I don't know why some people are getting all bent out of shape about it ... if you put thousands of people in the same place they won't all be the same which would be boring.
