Ernie Clements Info...

Retro Newbie
Hi, im new to the forum and found it trying to find information about a bike that i have just purchased from ebay for 99p!

Its a 531 frame and the paintwork is in decent nick, it had a brooks saddle on it as well but its in a bit of a state.

There does not seem to be much information at all about these bikes, id just like to know what kind of era it is from and what kind of groupset i could build it up with to restore it.

I will post a link for pics in another post as it wont let me in this one...

Ive had a look at this before but i there isnt really too much about any later models... if no one knows any help about what group would make this bike look and ride like a dream??

Clements

This frame has nothing to do with Falcon/Ernie Cements; it is the house brand of the shop of the same name based in Ledbury Herefordshire....looks like '90's period bottom end equipment in reasonable nick & would be a typically solid 531 bike to ride as a winter steed

hope this helps

You are quite correct, apart from the fact that Ernie Clements owned and ran/worked in the shop ;)

I was a regular in the shop Bitd as I lived around the corner.

He passed away a few years ago and if you would like any info on the bike ring Cycles Clements Ledbury, now run by his son.

Ernie opened the shop in Ledbury in 1990 I think.

He said he did it to keep in touch with cycling(he was nearly 70).

He had lots of those Clements stickered frames/bikes for sale but unfortunately I never asked him who make them for him!!!!!

I've done a tiny bit of googling and found out that Ernies brother Frank bought out Harry Quinn but kept Harry on as a master frame builder.

I'm not saying that your 99p frame was made by Harry Quinn.

Ernies son is Edward if you do decide to give him a ring.
