Told you so!! :D

Knew you'd be here soon. ;)

Chap in the shop is friendly enough. Ask him.
The shop is now smaller and tucked away just up a side street off the main drag in Ledbury. I hadn't been through for a few years and wehn I saw that the old rambling place had gone I assumed that after Ernie left us the shop had closed. Nice to see it still running although the atmoshere and chaos of the old place was nice. As was Ernie.

Ernie Clements info

Ernie was a business-man with fingers in many pies..that was after he retired from being a racing cyclist of course.

He was managing director of Falcon Cycles for some time and was associated with successor companies based in the 'Old Stockade' out at Barton-on-Humber and later at Brigg. He also had an involvement with Nigel Dean Cycles based in the same premises.

Your Ernie Clements is one of the range of bikes introduced by the then owners, British Eagle Cycles, who used the Clements brand as one of its classier ranges, including club, road-racing and tiuring models. At the same time there was another much smaller range carrying the Barry Hoban name, while bringing up the rear, so to speak, you had a middle level range sporting Harry Quinn transfers. These latter frames were at best 'sports' or 'leisure' models..so beware if you see a cheaper-looking Harry Quinn on Ebay/.

It is possible that some of these Ernie Clements frames were made by Nigel Deans business before that firm went into liquidation.

As for Ernie's business down in the West Country..he majored on Simoncinni frames for a number of years..rather than promoting his own name on the top-of-the-range models.

In the 1950s possibly even 60s there were some very attractive Ernie Clements frames around..but I have no idea who made them. Many of them had. of course, the special 'Clements' rear drop-outs designed for use with Benelux gears.
